An exciting journey to the Land of Dreams for curious children
How does anesthesia work? Why is there an anesthesia consultation before an operation? And what does an anesthetist actually do in the operating room? At Kids' University Straubing, young knowledge explorers discover the fascinating world of medicine.
Medicine explained in an understandable and child-friendly way
Prof. Dr. med. Matthias Jacob, Chief Physician for Anesthesiology, Operative Intensive Care, and Pain Medicine at Klinikum Straubing, answers central questions about anesthesia and safe medical care. The approximately one-hour lecture is appropriately geared towards children aged 8 to 14 years and combines understandable explanations with exciting insights into everyday clinical practice.
Wonder, ask questions, and discover new things
The children will learn how anesthesia is prepared, what tasks an anesthetist takes on, and how patients are safely cared for during an operation. The event fosters curiosity, learning fun, and understanding of medical processes. Thus, what may initially seem like a mysterious topic becomes a tangible learning experience.
Special highlight: Christoph 15 up close
A highlight awaits after the lecture: The children can tour the rescue helicopter Christoph 15, provided it is not called out on a mission. This special insight makes medical professions visible and conveys how important teamwork, responsibility, and safety are in emergency services.
Well organized for a safe family experience
Participation is limited to 40 children and only possible after prior registration via email and upon receiving a registration confirmation. Kids' University Straubing is supported by the Bürgerstiftung Straubing together with the Volkshochschule Straubing and the Competence Center for Renewable Raw Materials.
