Sound of Organ and Colors of Strings in St. Jakob Basilica
The Lower Bavarian Philharmonic invites you to a special classical concert in St. Jakob Basilica in Straubing on Sunday, April 18, 2027. The focus is on the fascinating interplay of organ and string orchestra, with church musician Marius Herb as the soloist.
A Program Between Romanticism and Modernity
The concert connects several sound worlds: Franz Schubert's and Gustav Mahler's musical engagement with Death and the Maiden opens the evening with dramatic tension and great emotional depth. Johann Sebastian Bach's solo organ then makes the sacred architecture of the basilica resonate.
Orchestration with Radiant String Colors
Ottorino Respighi's Suite in G major for organ and string orchestra unfolds a colorful orchestration, where the powerful organ sound and the agile articulation of the strings meet directly. Leoš Janáček's Suite for Strings provides a striking contrast with rhythmic precision, intense motifs, and characteristic stage performance.
Live Atmosphere in Historic Church Space
St. Jakob Basilica creates an impressive resonance space for this concert program with its acoustics. Long reverberation trails, warm string sounds, and the powerful conducting of the Lower Bavarian Philharmonic combine into a concert experience that brings together music history and immediate audience mood.
A Musical Highlight for Classical Music Fans
The organ-string orchestra concert is aimed at all who wish to experience Bach, romantic sound language, and orchestral sound dramaturgy live. The combination of solo instrument, string ensemble, and sacred space promises an afternoon full of contrasts, from concentrated silence to overwhelming tutti.

If you want to experience the expressive power of the organ, the precision of a string orchestra, and the special live atmosphere of St. Jakob Basilica, you will find an extraordinary concert date here. Secure your ticket and experience the Lower Bavarian Philharmonic live in Straubing.
