Located in the heart of the historic old town of Straubing, directly at Theresienplatz 23, Citydom combines a modern cinema experience with short pathways, good accessibility, and a relaxed stay before and after the film. Seven air-conditioned auditoriums of various sizes, including the technically upgraded X-Sense with Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850, ensure sharp images and immersive surround sound. The experience is complemented by the K1 Lounge & Bar on-site, which offers selected opening hours and small moments of enjoyment surrounding the cinema visit. Those arriving by car benefit from central parking options in close proximity, including the Theresien Center parking garage with the first hour free, as well as the large free parking lot at Am Hagen. In terms of pricing, Citydom focuses on clear, easily understandable structures with online advantages, a cinema day on Monday, and transparent surcharges for 3D, loge, and VIP seating. Additionally, event series such as The Special Film, Girls' Night, Senior Cinema, or Met Opera make the visit a personal highlight.

Current Program and Preview at Citydom Straubing

Citydom maintains its program on a daily basis, showcasing both major new releases and selected titles for special target groups. The program overview allows for easy sorting of showtimes by day, time, or other filters. Convenient for reliable planning: The preview section and the film calendar show early what is coming to the cinema soon, allowing groups, families, or friend circles to reserve suitable dates. Notices from the distributor regarding individual films are communicated transparently. An example of this is the industry-standard notice that for certain titles, free tickets may not be accepted temporarily; this information is openly published by the cinema to avoid misunderstandings at the entrance. Regular theme lines such as English Versions or special series are highlighted in the event calendar. Those with specific search requests, such as for a particular franchise or nostalgic audience favorites, will also find what they are looking for, as re-releases or event cinema offerings return throughout the year. Thus, the program design covers a range from family animation hits to international festival gems to concert and opera broadcasts. For cinema-goers who wish to combine their visit with an evening stroll around the town square, the continuous afternoon and evening showtimes are particularly convenient: At a glance, one can see which times can be combined with restaurant or bar visits. For early planners of Girls' Night events or fans of the series The Special Film, a regular check of the preview is recommended; this way, desired seats can be secured early. Thanks to digital ticketing with seat selection, booking is quick; additionally, ongoing notices about special promotions and combo deals are displayed, further easing the selection process.

Prices, Discounts, and Vouchers at a Glance

The pricing structure at Citydom Straubing transparently differentiates between various auditoriums. Online until 6 PM, the base prices in auditoriums 1, 3, 4, and 7 start at just €8.99 for adults, while X-Sense and the boutique auditoriums 5 and 8 begin at €9.99. Discounts for children, students, seniors, people with disabilities, holders of the Bavarian Volunteer Card, and groups of ten or more are clearly indicated. For show formats with higher technical demands or comfort, surcharges apply, which are also communicated openly: 3D costs an additional €3.00 (in X-Sense, 3, 4, and 7); the loge incurs a charge of €1.50; for VIP seating, €5.50 in X-Sense and €4.00 in cinema 5 and 8 are indicated. Pure holiday or pre-holiday surcharges are kept moderate at €0.50. Longer films are subject to a tiered surcharge for films over 120 minutes. Monday is particularly popular as cinema day: then there is a €3.00 discount on the base price; however, this advantage does not apply on or before public holidays. In addition to classic individual tickets, regular online promotional packages are available, such as Family & Friends with four admissions at a package price or the Family Fest, which includes two adults, two children, and a jumbo popcorn. A smart tip is the Gastro Fest: for €10.00, one receives admission including a €5.00 voucher for the K1 Lounge & Bar, valid for 14 days from the date of purchase. For online purchases, Citydom accepts common payment methods such as PayPal, credit card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay; value vouchers with barcodes can be conveniently used as payment. Important for all who still had old vouchers in the drawer: cinema vouchers without an explicitly printed expiration date lost their validity on December 31, 2024; since then, they can no longer be redeemed. Those who save regularly can combine online prices and Monday discounts or plan event series in packages with friends. Thanks to seat selection, it is ensured that even the preferred row in the most popular auditoriums can be reserved.

Food, Bar, and Popcorn: K1 Lounge & Cinema Snacks

No cinema evening is complete without the classic popcorn, and this is reflected in the promotional packages featuring jumbo sizes. In the foyer, the well-known snack favorites ensure that no one has to enter the auditorium hungry, from family afternoons to late shows. Those wishing to extend their visit can utilize the K1 Lounge & Bar on-site: it is independently operated but closely linked to the cinema and offers hours that harmonize ideally with the showtimes. Typically, the K1 Lounge & Bar opens from Thursday to Sunday, on Fridays and Saturdays even until after midnight; on Sundays and public holidays, the times align with the cinema's afternoon and evening program. This schedule makes the K1 a pleasant meeting point before the film for a drink and afterwards for winding down. For those who prefer extra comfort, a combo deal can be taken, where the K1 voucher is already included in the ticket package. For groups planning a Girls' Night, the interplay of lounge ambiance and subsequent show is particularly practical, as a meeting point in the same building can be established in advance. Families with children appreciate the short distances from the counter to the auditorium and the clearly visible signage. Due to its central location at the town square, a detour to nearby cafés and restaurants is also possible if one prefers to have something warm to eat before the cinema; thanks to the tightly scheduled showtimes, several time slots arise in the afternoon and early evening. The gastronomic offerings and opening hours may vary on public holidays or during school vacation periods; those who want to be sure should take a look at the cinema's notices in advance. The culinary environment is particularly highlighted during themed formats such as Cinema & Vino: here, a cozy glass after the show is practically planned. The same applies to premiere evenings, where a lively foyer atmosphere with selfie spots and trailer talks is created. This results in what good cinema is all about: a rounded experience that goes beyond the mere screening.

Auditoriums, Seating, and Technology: from X-Sense to Cinema 8

The seven auditoriums at Citydom cover different sizes and comfort levels and are easily accessible via elevators or short stairs. X-Sense is the flagship auditorium with 153 seats, ambient light illumination, particularly wide comfort seats with reclining functions, a silver-coated screen for maximum image sharpness, passive 3D technology, and the Dolby Atmos Cinema Processor CP850, which, with additional surround elements, creates a very immersive sound field. Cinema 3 accommodates about 150 seats and also offers digital projection with 3D options and 7.1 sound. Cinema 4 has around 138 seats and combines extra-wide leather chairs with love seats and rows with side tables; here, 7.1 sound is standard. Cinema 7 offers about 117 seats, digital 3D options, and 7.1 audio; the front row features reclining seats, and additional love seats are distributed throughout the auditorium. For intimate screenings or private celebrations, the boutique auditoriums are suitable: Cinema 1 with 44 seats and VPT-Intense 3D sound, as well as reclining backrests and small tables; Cinema 5 with 24 seats and 7.1 sound; Cinema 8 with 34 exclusive leather seats, individually adjustable seating positions, and VPT-Intense 3D sound, which is also suitable for nature and concert films. Selected auditoriums are accessible via lift and ramps or a few steps; wheelchair-accessible seats are available. In practice, seat selection is recommended based on personal preference: those who prefer a particularly wide image should choose middle rows slightly offset from the center of the auditorium; for strong sound, the area between the front loge and the center of the image is recommended, where the frontal and side channels connect harmoniously. In X-Sense, ambient light and the fine screen perforation effectively highlight contrasts and highlights; those planning to watch 3D should consider the loge-like rows. Love seats are suitable for couples, while families may prefer the edge seats with tables. The technology is state-of-the-art, and 3D screenings are available in several auditoriums. Since the boutique auditoriums 5 and 8 offer VIP seating categories, corresponding surcharges apply; conversely, they are the ideal choice for birthdays or exclusive group bookings where the atmosphere of a private cinema room is desired.

Directions and Parking at Theresienplatz

The address Theresienplatz 23 is located in the heart of Straubing and is easily accessible on foot, by bike, by bus, or by car. For access from the highway, the route via B 20 or B 8 towards the city center is recommended; the city's parking guidance system leads in real-time to available capacities in parking garages and underground garages in the city center. Citydom itself recommends two options that have proven effective for many years: on the one hand, the free large parking lot at Am Hagen, which is suitable for longer stays, and on the other hand, the parking garage in the Theresien Center just a few minutes' walk from the town square. In the Theresien Center, the first hour is free; thereafter, moderate hourly rates apply, and the underground garage is available for parking around the clock. For convenient access, elevators are available, and there are designated parking spaces for people with disabilities in the city and parking garages. From the parking areas at Hagen, a short walk leads towards the old town; depending on the pace, one can reach Theresienplatz in about ten to fifteen minutes. Those wishing to combine their cinema evening with shopping or a stroll can park directly in the Theresien Center and be at the cinema entrance in just a few minutes. Thanks to the compact structure of the old town, additional parking garages and short-term spaces are within walking distance. For visitors arriving by public transport, connections from Straubing train station are available; the old town is served by city buses from several directions. Since special events such as the Gäubodenvolksfest or large city festivals can affect the inner-city traffic management, it is advisable to take a quick look at the city's traffic notices or the parking guidance system before departure. For families with strollers or guests who wish to travel barrier-free, direct access to Theresienplatz is recommended to drop off companions nearby before parking the car in the garage. Overall, the cinema's location allows for a stress-free arrival with very short distances from the car to the auditorium.

Event Series: The Special Film, Girls' Night, Senior Cinema, Met Opera

In addition to daily screenings, Citydom thrives on recurring event formats that specifically address various tastes. In The Special Film, extraordinary stories, festival hits, and cinematic discoveries are the focus; the series is aimed at all who want to experience cinema as an art form away from the mainstream. The Girls' Night, on the other hand, bundles the sense of community with a suitable film selection around friendship, love, humor, and strong female characters. These evenings are often accompanied by a fitting atmosphere, allowing conversations to continue in the lounge after the screening. Senior Cinema offers pleasant afternoon times, often with a small gathering in the K1 Lounge & Bar, making the cinema visit particularly sociable. Classical music fans also get their share: Met Opera broadcasts bring world-class productions live or as recordings to the big screen; the image and sound quality of the auditoriums convincingly support this fascination. For fans of original versions, the event calendar lists screenings in English, ensuring that language lovers get their fill. An additional facet includes culinary special formats like Cinema & Vino, where the enjoyment experience is part of the evening. Those planning their visit in advance can utilize the preview, as event series are announced early. For groups, reservations in the comfort rows or VIP seats are worthwhile; in boutique auditoriums like Cinema 8, a true living room feel is created, ideal for birthday surprises. Tip: For event series with high demand, it is advisable to book online early and take advantage of Monday discounts or package offers. Since some titles may have variations in discounts or free tickets from the distributor, the current notices in the program are the authoritative basis. This creates a secure plan for a successful movie night that is technically, content-wise, and atmospherically convincing.

Service, Accessibility, and Practical Tips for the Best Seat

A strength of Citydom is the combination of modern technology, personal service, and short distances. The cinema reliably communicates its opening hours: during the week, it opens in the afternoon, on Fridays earlier, and on weekends from early afternoon, with holiday periods allowing for different schedules. The K1 Lounge & Bar complements this schedule with its own opening hours and long evenings on Fridays and Saturdays. Those who rely on accessibility will find wheelchair-accessible entrances via lifts and ramps in several auditoriums; designated seats are available. For seat selection, it is worthwhile to look at the characteristics of the individual auditoriums: X-Sense is recommended for experiencing the latest 3D technology and Atmos sound; there, the middle rows slightly above the center of the image are popular due to their sound balance and sightlines. In Cinema 4, many appreciate the combination of leather chairs and love seats, while in Cinema 7, the reclining seats in the front row are favored. Those coming with children benefit from edge seats near the steps, keeping paths to the exit short. In 3D screenings in auditoriums 3, 4, 7, and X-Sense, a central seat slightly above the center of the image is ideal to avoid ghosting and experience depth harmoniously. For particularly quiet screenings, seats away from the main aisles are recommended. Private celebrations can be realized by renting a boutique auditorium, such as in Cinema 8 with only 34 seats; here, true exclusivity is created. For budget-conscious cinema guests, online bookings before 6 PM and the Monday cinema day are attractive. For long films, the surcharge for extended length should be planned; those opting for VIP comfort should consider the corresponding surcharges in X-Sense as well as in auditoriums 5 and 8. It is also practical that payment online works with common services; thus, the purchase is completed in seconds. Those wishing to enjoy the evening after the screening can use the lounge or stroll around the town square, whose gastronomy and lighting provide a harmonious backdrop, especially on weekends. Overall, it shows: With its location, facilities, and pricing structure, Citydom is a reliable partner for spontaneous visits as well as for carefully planned movie nights.

The Citydom Straubing is a modern cinema with a really pleasant atmosphere. The halls are clean, the seats are comfortable, and the picture and sound quality are top-notch. Especially with big blockbusters or 3D movies, the cinema experience really shines here.

It was just way too stuffy and hot in the cinema hall, I went in at 30 degrees C under the assumption it was 'air-conditioned' as stated on the website. No wonder no one goes to the cinema anymore; at least some ventilation would have been nice. Unacceptable for the prices.

Senior cinema with coffee and cake: Always a great selection of films, now with delicious crumb cake and coffee in K1 on the same floor, including a fantastic view of the town square. The elevator in the side street helps to go up or down.

Hello everyone, last night we visited the Citydom cinema in Straubing. As seasoned cinema-goers and due to the bad reviews from about a month ago, we were curious about our personal experience. We were in hall X SENSE at 8:15 PM. Honestly, 20 euros per person is quite a steep price. But the sound experience was good, the 3D visuals were great, and the film lasted over 127 minutes. What we really loved were the super comfortable, extendable, and adjustable cinema seats. I have issues with my disc myself. There was real legroom here, and we could all enjoy the film. The cinema was also tidy, with no traces of previous visitors. Really top-notch 🔝 👍😃

Good service, but cinema 7 is unacceptable. We've seen several films there, and every time we leave feeling like we’re hard of hearing. It's just way too loud, and even after complaints at the counter after the last films, nothing was adjusted. It's a shame, as it puts us off from visiting again...
