After that, different rates are available, with card payment being cheaper than cash or online payment. Oberer-Thor-Platz, the pedestrian zone, shops at Theresienplatz, and other attractions are in close proximity.
Theresien Center Straubing Shops and Shopping Offer
The central search interest at the Theresien Center is focused on the shops. The location consolidates around 30 stores and offerings from various sectors, complementing the inner-city retail in Straubing. The concept is aimed not only at visitors who specifically visit a single store but also at people who want to combine several errands. A shopping trip to the supermarket, a visit to a clothing store, an appointment with a service provider, and a short break for coffee or cake can all be combined in one trip. This mix makes the center practical in everyday life.
Publicly listed shops and facilities include REWE, expert Straubing, CHRIST jewelers and watchmakers, Hunkemöller, Olymp & Hades, Gina Laura, House of Gerry Weber, Bonita, GameStop, Sport Sperk, and Casino Theresien. This variety meets different needs: groceries and daily supplies stand alongside clothing, jewelry, sports items, consumer electronics, and games. The selection is complemented by medical and dental practices, a butcher shop, and other services. The exact occupancy may change over time. Therefore, anyone wishing to visit a specific store should check the current center overview or the website of the respective company.
Search queries for a nail salon or a hairdresser also show that visitors perceive the Theresien Center and its immediate surroundings as a location for personal services. Real estate and location information about the area around Theresienplatz mention a hair salon and a nail studio in the immediate vicinity. For specific opening hours, appointment availability, and the current business name, the respective providers are crucial. This is particularly important because service offerings can change more frequently than large chain stores.
The strength of the shopping center lies less in a single spectacular attraction than in the combination of many everyday and specialized offerings. Visitors can combine shopping with a city stroll, as the center directly connects to the historic Straubing city center. Those coming from Regensburger Straße or Oberer-Thor-Platz can reach the shops without long walks. This compact structure is practical for families, working individuals, and city visitors, as many destinations are reachable in a short time.

According to the operator, 513 parking spaces are available. The city of Straubing also mentions around 500 parking spaces for the Theresien Center parking garage in tourist information.

The maximum daily rate for card payment is 10.00 euros. For cash or online payment, each additional hour costs 2.50 euros, with a maximum daily amount of 12.50 euros. A daily rate can also be chosen. This must be selected and paid within 30 minutes after entering at the ticket machine. The operator points out that the daily rate only applies to parking in the underground garage and is not bookable in July and August.
The payment options differ depending on the parking level. The ticket machines are located in comparable places on both levels. According to the operator, the machines on the parking deck are cashless, while cash payment is also possible in the underground garage. Card payment is therefore particularly recommended for visitors who want to exit quickly and easily. Before paying, the license plate or the vehicle information requested at the machine should be entered correctly. Entry is without a classic barrier; therefore, automatic vehicle recognition and the signs on-site should be observed carefully.
The parking garage regulations are suitable for various visiting occasions. Those who only make a quick errand can park for free within the first hour. For a longer shopping trip or a city visit, the maximum daily rate is advisable. Long-term parkers also find offers regulated by the parking garage management. The maximum entry height is 2.10 meters according to the published operator information. Larger vehicles should consider this information before approaching.
Additionally, there are other parking options in Straubing. The city refers to the large parking lot Am Hagen, which can generally be used for free, except during the Gäuboden Folk Festival in August. From there, the city center can be reached on foot or by shuttle bus. However, those who want to shop directly at the center usually use the parking garage on Geiselhöringer Straße. Due to the central location, parking and city visits can be particularly well combined.
Theresien Center Underground Garage: Prices, Times, and Practical Tips
The underground garage of the Theresien Center is of interest to visitors who want to park independently of the opening hours of the parking deck. According to the parking garage operator, the underground garage is usable around the clock. Entry and exit are therefore also possible outside of regular business hours. The parking deck is indicated with opening hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. For a normal shopping visit during the day, the parking deck is usually sufficient. Those wanting to park early in the morning, in the evening, or for a longer period should choose the underground garage and pay attention to the current signs on-site.
The pricing structure of the underground garage generally follows the published parking garage model. The first hour remains free. After that, the started hour costs 2.00 euros for card payment. The maximum daily rate for card payment is 10.00 euros. Those paying cash or via online payment should expect 2.50 euros for each additional started hour and a maximum daily rate of 12.50 euros. For longer stays, the daily rate can be interesting. It is selected within 30 minutes after entering at the ticket machine and costs 3.50 euros for card payment or 4.50 euros for cash payment according to the operator. This special daily rate is not available in July and August.
Charging options for electric vehicles are also indicated in the vicinity of the underground garage. A directory for charging infrastructure lists two Type-2 connections with up to 22 kW. The use of the charging process is subject to fees and can be done through the respective payment or activation options offered. Since charging conditions, availability, and prices may change, drivers should check the signage or the information from the charging point operator before charging.
When approaching, the maximum height of 2.10 meters should be considered. This particularly affects vehicles with roof structures, high vans, and some motorhomes. The underground garage is well suited for normal cars. The central location near the pedestrian zone also reduces the walking distance to the shops and the historic city center. Those planning a visit should check the pricing conditions at the machine after entering, as the binding information for the respective stay applies there.
A practical advantage of the underground garage is the connection of parking and errands. Visitors can first shop in the center and then explore Oberer-Thor-Platz, Theresienplatz, or the adjacent side streets without further parking searches. Especially in bad weather, the underground garage offers a comfortable starting point. At the same time, it should be noted that individual shops have their own opening hours and are not automatically open as long as the parking option.
Directions to Theresien Center Straubing and Location in the City Center
The Theresien Center is located at Oberer-Thor-Platz 3 in 94315 Straubing. The address is at the edge of the historic old town and at a transition between modern shopping infrastructure and the developed city center. For access to the parking garage, Geiselhöringer Straße 2 is indicated. This address is particularly helpful for navigation devices as it leads directly to the parking garage entrance and not just to the main entrance of the center.
Straubing is accessible via the A3 motorway as well as the federal roads B8 and B20. From the regional traffic axes, the drive leads towards the city center and Oberer-Thor-Platz. When arriving, one should pay attention to current construction sites, temporary closures, and events. The city center can be busier during city festivals, markets, or the Gäuboden Folk Festival. For the parking garage, local signage is crucial, as traffic routes and accesses may change temporarily.
The location is also favorable for visitors without a car. The central bus stop with city bus lines is within walking distance. According to information from the Straubing city area, the main train station is about a 15-minute walk away. Thus, the center can also be reached by public transport. Those coming from the train station can combine the journey with a walk through the city center. The exact connection by bus or train should be checked before departure based on the current timetable.
From the center, central destinations in Straubing are quickly reachable. The pedestrian zone at Oberer-Thor-Platz leads towards Theresienplatz and further over the historic town square. There are numerous other shops, cafés, and attractions. The center is therefore suitable as a starting point for a combined shopping and city stroll. Visitors can first park in the parking garage, do their shopping, and then explore other areas of the old town without needing to drive again.
The urban planning integration is a special aspect of the location. The center was not built as an isolated shopping box outside the city but as an open facility made up of several building sections around a central square. Urban planning documents describe that the development is oriented towards the historic surroundings. The Regensburger Straße running through the area was closed to individual traffic in the project area, creating a new square and pedestrian zone situation. This makes the location feel like part of the inner-city network.
History and Special Features of the Theresien Center
The Theresien Center was inaugurated in 2008. Its development is linked to the development of the area around Oberer-Thor-Platz and Regensburger Straße. Previously, the site housed the Moos or Arcobrau brewery, the vinegar factory Poiger, and the Leserkeller. An originally planned cultural center was not implemented. Instead, a shopping center was created to complement the city center with additional retail and service areas.
The city's history is particularly present at this location. Different uses have been described in front of the Oberen Tor for many centuries. In the Middle Ages, clay was extracted, bricks were fired, and vegetables were grown there. Later, breweries, summer cellars, villas, and rental houses were built. The historical development of the quarter explains why the current center cannot be viewed in isolation from its surroundings. It is located in a place where supply, traffic, crafts, gastronomy, and urban life have long overlapped.
Part of the historical building stock was incorporated into the planning. Urban planning documents specifically mention the historical building section of the vinegar factory Poiger, which was preserved and should be revitalized through retail spaces. The citizens' monument also remained part of the square design and was only slightly relocated during the development. The combination of modern shopping areas, older building sections, and public space gives the environment a different character than a completely newly constructed shopping center.
Design features include the arrangement of the building sections around a central square. This creates a more open structure in which visitors do not move exclusively within a closed building. The facades, as well as colors and materials, are oriented according to urban planning documents to the historic surroundings. The location thus combines retail with a piece of urban landscape. Especially during a walk between the parking garage, center, Oberer-Thor-Platz, and Theresienplatz, this connection becomes visible.
The Theresien Center is also an important anchor location for inner-city retail. In the retail and center concept of the city, it is classified as a central building block or anchor location in the city center area. The planned and approval-capable assortment areas include, among other things, groceries, drugstore goods, clothing, electronics, sports, shoes, and toys. This provides a wide range of uses that serve both local supply and classic city center shopping.
The uniqueness of the center lies in its location and function. It is not just a collection of individual stores but a part of the Straubing city center. The visit can be combined with shopping, a service, a café stay, a doctor's appointment, or a stroll through the old town. This multiple use explains why questions about shops, parking, underground garage, and access are so closely related.
Theresien Center Reviews and Visitor Experience
When searching for reviews of the Theresien Center, many visitors are looking for a realistic assessment of the location. A published review overview shows a rating of 3.9 out of 5 points based on around 2,749 reviews. Such values provide a general impression but do not replace the view of individual current reviews. Experiences can vary depending on the visited store, time of day, parking situation, and personal expectations.
Positive aspects often noted include the central location, proximity to the pedestrian zone, and the ability to park directly at the center. The combination of supermarket, retail, and services can also offer advantages in everyday life. Those planning multiple errands in the city center do not have to switch between different parking spaces. The free first hour of parking is also mentioned as a practical advantage for short visits. For longer stays, card payment is particularly relevant due to the lower rates.
Critical feedback may relate to individual shops, changing store occupancy, orientation in the parking garage, or tariff communication. Parking fees are calculated according to the applicable conditions for privately operated parking facilities. Therefore, visitors should pay attention to signage, ticket machines, and operator information. The first hour free does not automatically mean that every longer stay remains free. Daily rates must also be selected within the specified time window. Checking the rules before exiting can help avoid misunderstandings.
The atmosphere of the location is shaped by its open connection to the city center. Visitors come not only for a single purchase but often move between the center, square area, and adjacent pedestrian zone. This can be an advantage if one wants to combine shopping with a walk. At the same time, the center is not a classic leisure or event center with a permanently own stage program. The focus is on shopping, local supply, services, and the function as an inner-city starting point.
Those looking for photos of the Theresien Center are usually interested in facades, square design, parking garage access, or the location at Oberen Tor. For current images, the official center channels, the city of Straubing, and the individual shops are the most reliable sources. Photos may change due to renovations, new signage, or changing store occupancy. Therefore, images should always be compared with the current on-site impression.
Overall, the Theresien Center is particularly suitable for visitors looking for a central shopping address with good parking options. Those who appreciate a wide selection of shops, short distances, and proximity to the historic city center will find a functional location here. For a fair assessment, both the advantages of the location and individual expectations regarding offerings, opening hours, and parking rates should be considered.
Plan Your Visit: Opening Hours, Services, and Connection to the Old Town
The shops in the Theresien Center generally have their own opening hours. This means that not all stores necessarily offer the same times. Large retail companies, practices, gastronomic establishments, and smaller service providers may have different opening and appointment times. Those specifically wishing to visit a hairdresser, nail salon, practice, or a specific specialty store should check the current information of the respective provider. For general shopping, a visit during the usual business hours in the morning or afternoon is recommended.
The parking garage can be relevant for visit planning independent of the business hours. The parking deck is indicated with an opening time of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, while the underground garage is accessible around the clock according to the operator. Nevertheless, visitors should check which exit is open and whether individual center areas are already closed before evening appointments. Parking and access to public road space are not automatically identical to the opening hours of the shops.
The combination of center and old town offers many possibilities. After shopping, visitors can walk to Theresienplatz, stroll through the pedestrian zone, or explore the historic buildings and squares of Straubing. The city is known for its long-established city center with prominent squares, churches, residential buildings, and cultural institutions. The Theresien Center is located at an intersection where modern retail and historic city structure meet directly.
For families, the short connection between the parking garage and shops can be pleasant, as shopping and paths remain manageable. Working individuals benefit from being able to complete multiple errands in one visit. Older visitors or people with limited mobility should inform themselves in advance about the specific accesses, elevators, and paths within the parking garage and center. Local signage helps with orientation, while individual shops provide their own information on accessibility and service offerings.
Visitors should also plan for seasonal peculiarities. In August, the Gäuboden Folk Festival can influence traffic conditions and parking situations in Straubing. The daily rate of the Theresien Center is, according to the operator, not bookable in July and August. Also, special shopping Sundays, city center events, and markets may bring different opening hours or additional offers. Current information from the city and the center is therefore particularly important before special visiting days.
The Theresien Center thus fulfills multiple functions simultaneously: it is a shopping center, local supply location, service address, parking option, and access to the Straubing city center. Those planning their visit with regard to shops, parking rates, access, and old town paths can make the best use of the advantages of the location. For a short shopping trip, the free first hour is often sufficient. For an extended city stroll, the underground garage with daily or maximum rate is a practical option.

Theresien Center | Shops & Parking Garage
The Theresien Center Straubing is located at Oberer-Thor-Platz 3, making it particularly accessible at the edge of the historic city center. Those looking to shop, run errands, use services, or combine a visit to the old town with an uncomplicated parking option will find a central point here. The center was inaugurated in 2008 and is now an important part of the inner-city retail landscape. Around 30 shops gather under one roof or in the building sections around the central square. The offerings include areas such as fashion, jewelry, electronics, groceries, sports, games, services, and gastronomy.
Particularly frequent searches are made for parking at the Theresien Center. The associated parking garage features a parking deck and underground garage, offering approximately 513 parking spaces according to the operator. The first hour is free. After that, different rates are available, with card payment being cheaper than cash or online payment. The underground garage can be used around the clock, while the parking deck is open during the day. From here, the Straubing city center can be easily explored on foot.
Theresien Center Parking Garage and Parking in Straubing
The topic of parking is one of the most important search intentions surrounding the Theresien Center. The parking garage is centrally located and offers a direct opportunity to park the car near the city center. The access is indicated for navigation devices at Geiselhöringer Straße 2, 94315 Straubing. The parking garage extends over two levels and includes a parking deck and underground garage. According to the operator, 513 parking spaces are available. The city of Straubing also mentions around 500 parking spaces for the Theresien Center parking garage in tourist information.
For short-term visitors, the free first hour is particularly relevant. After that, parking with card payment costs 2.00 euros for each additional hour started.

Theresien center has nothing in it really. It is just a gym and a supermarket... And the gym is not great at all. But Rewe is definitely a very nice supermarket with almost all your needs and its location is good.

Shopping center in the heart of Straubing. We needed to go to the REWE supermarket and the bathrooms (which were very clean at the end of the day). The REWE supermarket had everything you need to make a healthy or not so healthy meal at home. The shopping center itself has escalators but also an elevator for people with disabilities to get to the upstairs bathrooms. The building itself only has one entrance at the north side. We walked almost around the entire building to find the entrance because it's not obvious when you're on foot.
